Outdoors, the flame needs shelter from strong wind, a stable non-combustible surround, and the clearances in the manufacturer's manual. Fit the lid when the burner is not in use to keep rain out. Never refill while the burner is alight or warm.

Outdoor safety note: Outdoors there is no minimum room size, but keep the fire clear of overhanging plants, parasols and anything flammable, and never use an outdoor burner in an enclosed space unless the manufacturer allows it.
