Rais Viva L Bio Freestanding Bio-Ethanol Stove
Rais

A real flame in Rais's tallest, most slender bio stove. The Viva L Bio pairs soft rounded edges with a generous glass section, so the flame reads as a clear vertical line, and it needs no chimney or fixed installation.

Designed in Denmark, the Viva L Bio brings the shape of Rais's well-known Viva L stove to bioethanol. It runs on a 230 V supply, is controlled from its own panel, a remote or the Rais app, and can be positioned freely and moved later. Choose from four heights, a classic steel framed door or a contemporary glass door, and add side glass, a coloured finish, a top plate or a bench to suit the room.

Why choose the Viva L Bio

  • Real flame with no chimney, flue or fixed installation, so it can be placed freely
  • Tall, slender form with a generous glass area for a vertical flame
  • Four heights, from 1000 mm to 1618 mm
  • Matches the Viva L wood-burning and gas stoves, so the same design works across a home

Key features

  • Integrated control panel, remote control and app (Rais 2026 bio catalogue)
  • Five flame levels, ECO mode and an automatic timer
  • Electronically monitored system that checks temperature, fuel level and flame status, and shuts the stove down automatically if anything is out of range
  • Integrated CO₂ sensor
  • Electric refill pump included; it prevents overfilling and blocks refilling while the stove is too hot
  • Vapour combustion: the bioethanol is turned into vapour before it is lit, for a steady, controllable flame

Safety and ventilation

Bio-ethanol stoves burn real fuel and use oxygen from the room, so ventilation matters. Use the stove only in a room of at least 34 m², the minimum size Rais approves, keep the room ventilated while it burns, refill only with the supplied electric pump and never while the stove is hot, use bioethanol with a purity of 96.5–97.5% and no fragrances or additives, and keep the clearances given in the Rais manual.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Viva L Bio need a chimney or flue?

No. It is a freestanding bioethanol stove that needs no chimney or fixed installation, only a 230 V earthed power supply. The room must be ventilated while it is lit.

How much heat does it give out?

Rais quotes 1.6 kW at minimum, 2.5 kW in ECO mode and up to 3.4 kW at maximum, with up to 31 hours from the 7.8-litre tank. Rais approves it for rooms of at least 34 m².

Which heights are available?

Four: Viva L 100 (1000 mm), 120 (1218 mm), 140 (1418 mm) and 160 (1618 mm), all 470 mm in diameter.

How is it controlled and refilled?

From the integrated control panel, the remote or the Rais app, with five flame levels, ECO mode and a timer. Refilling is done with the electric pump supplied, which stops overfilling and will not refill a hot stove.

What fuel does it use?

Bioethanol with a purity of 96.5–97.5%. Rais advises against fuel with fragrances or other additives, which can cause odours and damage the stove.

    What our customers say

    I Cannot Recommend Highly Enough

We used BMF a number of years ago in our previous house and got first class service and product. We have just moved house and have gone back to Sam and Ben at BMF, and had 2 very high-end stoves installed. As per our first stove absolutely top notch service and products. I would very strongly recommend Ben and his team having installed 3 stoves for us, in a very tidy and professional way. I cannot recommend highly enough.  cheers guys

Not one for writing reviews yet I felt I had to thank the team at BMF for my fabulous new kitchen. I love it! Quite an exceptional experience from beginning to end. In particular, special shout out and hooray to Tony, who listened, engaged, offered some super clever design ideas and helped me to convey my own which was an achievement in itself. Currently sat in what was promised, revelling in the absolute delight of both the process and results, completely exceeding expectations and proving it can be done stress-free.

THANK-YOU again and totally be back in touch for the wood burner.

Awesome job, absolutely delighted with our new kitchen. We went to the showroom with loads of ideas about what we wanted to achieve but the product knowledge and technical know how of the team at BMF was invaluable. This wasn’t a small job, there were structural changes within and building works to the outside wall to accommodate new doors. BMF dealt with it all, working to a budget, engaging a structural engineer and project managing third-party contractors. They even tweaked the design midway through at their own cost as they found a way to fit a larger kitchen island. NICE to find a firm that values their end product over their profit margin!!

We used BMF Interiors to supply and install a wood burning stove. I dealt with Sam Freeman and she was absolutely fantastic. Really helpful and thorough; going beyond what she needed to do to help me decide what else to do with the hearth and fireplace before using BMF. She even spoke to the builders who knocked the fireplace through to guide them with a few things. The installers were great too. Plus we got free wood for emailing through the pictures of the finished fireplace – great bonus! I can’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you Sam.
